Put this table on a pedestal!

Happy Monday, everyone!! I hope you all had a nice, relaxing weekend. This weekend was super exciting for me because on Saturday I officially opened my booth!! Yay! I’ll tell you more about that little adventure later this week 🙂

Today, I wanted to feature one of my favorite transformations: this pedestal table.

My mom is always on the lookout for great finds and she certainly didn’t let me down on this baby. She picked up this baby for a steal at a yard sale. What a diamond in the rough! Pedestal tables are such classic, elegant pieces that are always in style and I couldn’t wait to make this lady shine!

I was inspired by the existing cream color but wanted to brighten it up a bit. I chose to paint the piece in Americana Decor’s Lace. This color, while lovely, does take a few coats to achieve full coverage, but it was certainly worth it in the end.

After deciding to keep the gorgeous metal claw feet at the bottom of the piece, I felt that the top needed to be better balanced with the same visual interest. First I painted the band in a deeper color, Primative. It’s a gorgeous taupe grey that adds the perfect amount of depth. But the paint alone didn’t provide enough of the “wow” that I was looking for.  So I chose to play with the reflection of light a bit by adding metallic accents and, my favorite designing element, nail heads!! I love the drama nail heads add to any piece while still keeping it classic! I then finished everything off with a new hammered drawer pull, a coat of clear wax, and voila! Enjoy the eye candy:

What do you think? I could totally see this piece in a grand foyer and used as the perfect side table to add a bit of drama to the room. And I don’t know, just looking at it makes me want to channel my inner Grace Kelly! I love comments so let me know how you think it turned out!
